# Understand your role and company access

> Find your assigned permissions, check company access, and request a change from your MSP.

**Audience:** Company users and MSP staff reviewing their own access. Company users, including Company administrators, ask their MSP to manage users and permissions.

Your role determines which actions you can perform. Your company access determines which organizations' records you can work with. A visible menu item does not guarantee permission to create, edit, delete, or export its records.

## Find your role and permissions

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open User Settings">
    Go to **Settings > User Settings** (`/settings/user`). Your profile summary shows your assigned role.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open permission details">
    In the **Access** card, select **View details** beside **Permissions**. The **Your Permissions** drawer groups the permissions associated with your role by area.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check the action you need">
    Find the module and review the available actions. Viewing information and making changes can require different permissions. Close the drawer when finished; this screen does not edit your role.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Check your company access

In the **Access** card, select the company count beside **Company access**. The **Company Access** drawer lists the companies available to you. If the company you need is missing, ask your MSP to review your company assignment or access group.

Where the portal provides a company selector, check the selected company before opening a record. A role can allow a module while the company selection or assignment still limits the records you see.

## Request a permission change

Contact your MSP and include the module, the action you need, the affected company, and what happens now. For example: “I can view tickets for our company, but I need permission to create a new ticket.” Include the page address or the exact error message when useful.

If you can create tickets, [open a support request](/user-guides/ticketing/open-a-ticket). If you cannot access the portal or the ticket form, use your IT provider's usual support channel.

## Client Health and scoring access

**Client Health** and **Health Score Configuration** are MSP tools. Company users, including Company administrators, cannot open the Client Health dashboard, set manual risk flags or change scoring. Ask your MSP to explain a health assessment or review the underlying information.

## Why a page or action may be missing

| What you notice | What to check |
| --------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| A page is absent from the sidebar | It may be hidden by your personal or MSP-provided navigation layout, or unavailable for your role. |
| A page opens but a Create or Edit button is missing | Your role may permit viewing without permitting that action. |
| A company or its records are missing | Check your company access and selected company. |
| An integration-specific tab is missing | Your MSP may need to enable the feature, connect a supported integration, or make the data available. |
| A page has an access-denied message | Ask your MSP to check your effective role and company assignment. Reordering the sidebar does not grant access. |
