# Understand agreement balances

> Read current and historical hours, incidents, or monetary balances without confusing missing data with zero usage.

Open **Agreements** or **Contracts**, select the relevant row, and select **Balances**. Review the units and period before interpreting a remaining balance.

## Read the current balance

**Current** identifies balance rows marked current by the imported data. A period can show its dates, an hourly rate when supplied, and the remaining balance. **As of**, when shown, gives a synchronization timestamp for the displayed balance data; it is not a promise of live usage tracking.

The list summarizes current balance rows. The detail panel shows the individual rows and periods, so use it when you need to understand the breakdown.

| Display | Meaning |
| ------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| “X of Y hrs remaining” | Remaining hours out of the supplied purchased total. |
| “X of Y incidents remaining” | Remaining incidents, not hours. |
| A monetary amount remaining | A money-based balance; confirm its currency and terms with your MSP. |
| A remaining value without a purchased total | The provider supplied a balance but no usable total for a percentage bar. |
| **Unlimited** | The imported balance is marked unlimited. Check the agreement’s actual scope and terms. |
| A dash or **No hour balances found** | The view has no applicable balance data. This is not the same as zero remaining. |

When an hours or incidents progress bar is available, its filled portion represents usage. The text shows the remaining balance. Amber indicates less than 25% remaining; a negative remaining value is shown in red rather than being hidden.

## Read previous periods

Scroll to **History**. Past rows are grouped by year, with their own dates and balances. A **Past** row is historical data; do not add its remaining balance to the current period unless your MSP confirms that the agreement carries it forward.

If the detail-load warning appears, the panel may be showing only the list’s current summary. Resolve that warning before treating the history as complete.

## Ask about a discrepancy

Give your MSP the agreement name, period, displayed units and balance, and the **As of** time when available. Ask it to check recent time entries or usage and the provider’s balance calculation. Do not create a new agreement or assume a missing row means unlimited coverage.
