# Backup

> Find device and Microsoft 365 backup reports, understand provider coverage, and ask for help.

**Audience:** Company users and MSP staff with Backup read access. Your MSP controls Company permissions, connected providers, and company mapping.

Backup shows information imported from your backup providers. Use it to review reported protection, storage, and activity. These screens do not start backups, restore files, change retention, or resolve provider alerts.

## Choose a task

* [Read the Backup Dashboard](/user-guides/backup/read-dashboard).
* [Find device backups and review their status](/user-guides/backup/find-device-backups).
* [Read Cove and Acronis Microsoft 365 backups](/user-guides/backup/read-microsoft-365-backups).
* [Read Kaseya SaaS Protection and Spanning health](/user-guides/backup/read-saas-backup-health).
* [Open Acronis activity or NinjaOne backup details](/user-guides/backup/read-backup-details).
* [Review Acronis alerts](/user-guides/backup/review-alerts).

## Find the available sections

Open **Backup** in the sidebar and check your company selection. MSP staff can review companies they are allowed to access. Company users see the scope their MSP grants them.

| Section | Data shown when available |
| - | - |
| **Dashboard** | Device protection and storage summaries, with available Microsoft 365 health or shortcuts. |
| **Devices** | Cove, Acronis, and NinjaOne device backup records. |
| **Microsoft 365** | Cove, Acronis, Kaseya SaaS Protection, and Spanning Backup. |
| **Alerts** | Acronis backup alerts. |

Devices, Microsoft 365, and Alerts appear only when the portal finds eligible data in the selected scope. An unavailable section can return you to Dashboard. An active integration alone does not guarantee that a tab will appear.

Inside Microsoft 365, choose the provider when several are available. Kaseya is labeled **SaaS Protection** and Spanning is labeled **Spanning Backup**. With one available provider, its report opens without an extra provider selector. The older SaaS Protection address leads to Microsoft 365; it is not a separate top-level tab.

## Company users: report a concern

If a device or service looks unprotected, a backup is old, or a section is missing, ask your MSP to investigate. Start with the [Home AI Assistant](/user-guides/ticketing/open-a-ticket). Include the company, device or workload, provider, displayed status, and backup date. Review and confirm the support request when prompted; opening Backup does not submit a ticket.

## MSP staff: check setup and access

Confirm the provider connection, imported company mapping, sync results, and the user's Backup read permission. Kaseya and Spanning also depend on the relevant integration feature being enabled. Company admins do not manage these permissions themselves.

## Frequently asked questions

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Does Backup require Cove specifically?">
    No. Provider support differs by section, as shown above. The connection, mapping, available data, and user access determine what appears.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Where is the Sync button?">
    There is no universal Sync button in the Backup page header. The Kaseya and Spanning health reports have Refresh, which reloads imported report data. MSP staff check provider synchronization in integration settings.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does an empty dashboard mean every backup is healthy?">
    No. Missing mappings, unavailable data, filters, or a loading problem can produce empty results or zero totals. Ask your MSP to confirm protection and data freshness.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I restore a file or change the backup schedule here?">
    These Backup reports do not provide those actions. Company users should request the change or restore through their MSP; authorized MSP staff use the relevant provider workflow.
