# Bulk edit and delete budget products

> Apply selected catalog fields carefully and understand product deletion and selection limits.

**Audience:** MSP staff and Company users explicitly permitted by their MSP to edit the relevant budget products. Changes save immediately and can affect shared catalog entries.

## Update several products

1. Open **Budgets Menu > Products** and check company scope.
2. On the current page, tick only the intended rows. Work one page at a time; check the product names before proceeding.
3. Open **Actions (count Selected) > Bulk Edit**.
4. Tick the checkbox beside each field you intend to change, then provide its value. Unchecked fields stay unchanged.
5. Choose **Update Products**. Refresh and inspect each affected product; partial failures can leave some rows updated and others unchanged.

| Field             | Available change                                                                                                     |
| ----------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Category** | Choose an available category. A blank choice does not clear existing categories. |
| **Vendor** | Choose from vendor values already present among the selected products. Use single-product Edit to type a new vendor. |
| **Product Group** | Choose from groups already present among the selected products. This dialog does not create a new group. |
| **Unit Price** | Enter a nonnegative price. Zero is a valid update; blank does not change prices. |
| **Description** | Enter replacement text, or check the field and leave it blank to clear descriptions. |

Bulk Edit does not change names, SKUs, recurrence or company assignments. Use the [single-product editor](/user-guides/budgets/manage-products) for name, SKU and billing changes.

<Note>
  Keep each operation on one loaded page. The current selection controls do not provide a dependable whole-catalog bulk operation. Changing pages or company context can make the selected count difficult to reconcile; clear the selection and explicitly select the intended visible rows again.
</Note>

## Delete one product

1. Locate the exact product and open its row **... > Delete**.
2. Read **Delete product?** and confirm **Delete**, or choose Cancel.
3. Verify that the product disappeared after refresh.

The dialog explains that budgets referencing the product keep their existing numbers. Deletion removes the reusable catalog entry; it does not remove copied budget costs or delete the provider's product. There is no catalog undo control.

## Delete selected products

Select the intended visible rows, then choose **Actions (count Selected) > Delete Selected**. This currently starts deletion immediately, with no second confirmation dialog. Check the selection before choosing it. Use individual row deletion when you need a confirmation step for each product.

Review the remaining list after a bulk deletion. A bulk request can partially succeed; do not assume every selected row was deleted because the menu closed.

## Frequently asked questions

<AccordionGroup>

  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Will Bulk Edit replace fields I leave unchecked?">
    No. Only checked fields with applicable values are sent. Check Description and leave it blank if you specifically want to clear descriptions.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I clear categories, vendors or product groups with a blank bulk value?">
    No. Blank choices for those fields are ignored. The current bulk dialog does not offer a clear option for them.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why can I not type a new vendor in Bulk Edit?">
    Bulk Edit offers existing vendor values from the selected products. Open a product row > Edit to enter a new vendor.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I change recurrence for many products with Bulk Edit?">
    No. Recurrence is available in the single-product editor, not Bulk Edit.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does Delete Selected ask me to confirm?">
    No. It currently begins deletion immediately. Review the exact visible selection first, or use each row’s Delete action for an individual confirmation.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does deleting a product delete costs from existing budgets?">
    No. Existing budget lines keep their copied numbers. The action removes the catalog entry and does not delete a provider product.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I know a bulk operation completed for every product?">
    Refresh and inspect the affected rows. Individual failures can leave a partially completed update or deletion; do not rely only on the dialog closing.
