# Create budget products from Planner

> Turn eligible Planner estimates into reusable company budget products.

**Audience:** MSP staff and Company users whose MSP grants budget editing access for the relevant company. Your MSP manages permissions.

Use **Budgets Menu > Products > Import from Planner** to create catalog products. This is different from importing Planner cost components directly into a budget or syncing a forecast.

## Import eligible items

    Check the company selector before opening **Import from Planner**. For MSP staff, choosing one company helps distinguish similarly named plans from different clients.

    In **Import Products from Planner**, search by title or category. Review Title, Category, Cost, Recurrence and Due date.

  <Step title="Select the intended items">
    Tick the items you want to turn into products. Check the selection count before importing. Searching can hide selected items without clearing their selection; do not treat the visible filtered list as the entire selection.

  <Step title="Import and check the catalog">
    Choose **Import Selected (count)** and wait for the result. This saves catalog products immediately; there is no later page Save. Refresh the catalog and verify the names, categories, prices and recurrence.

## Which Planner items appear?

The picker uses accessible items with a positive overall cost estimate, excludes archived and Cancelled items, and hides items already linked to a budget product. Completed items can appear. It is not limited to a budget fiscal year, and a due date is not required for this catalog import.

The search matches title or category, not every displayed field. If an expected item is absent, check company scope, its overall cost estimate, archived/cancelled state and whether it was already imported. After a loading error, an empty picker does not establish that no eligible items exist.

## What the product contains

The product uses the Planner title, category, description, overall estimate and recurrence. It keeps the Planner item's company association. The import does not split separate child cost components into individual products and does not copy a due date into a billing schedule.

Review the resulting price and category before adding it to a budget. If the plan's detailed cost components differ from its overall estimate, use the appropriate amount for your purpose.

The link prevents the same Planner item being imported again while a linked product exists. It is not ongoing synchronization: changing the planning estimate does not by itself refresh the catalog product. Edit the product separately when its reusable cost needs updating.

## Add the cost to a budget

Importing here creates reusable products; it does not add budget lines.
