# Read HootPhish participant results

> Inspect the selected challenge's learner outcomes, search participants, and interpret scores, ranks, and time.

**Audience:** Company users and MSP staff with Security Awareness read access to CyberHoot HootPhish results. Your MSP manages participant accounts and campaign changes.

## Find a participant

1. Open **Security > Security Awareness** and [select a HootPhish challenge](/user-guides/security/read-hootphish-challenges).
2. Scroll below the challenge list and confirm the selected challenge name and start date.
3. Read the **Participants**, **Completed**, **Succeeded**, and **Failed** summary cards.
4. Use **Search participants** to match the person's name, leaderboard name, email, or source participant identifier.
5. Browse the participant pages using Previous page and Next page. Each page contains up to 25 results.
6. Read the person's **Result**, **Score**, **Rank**, and **Time**. A narrow screen shows the same results as cards.

The challenge summary cards remain the totals for the selected challenge. Searching participants changes the result rows and their result count; it does not recalculate those four cards.

## Interpret a result

**Completed**, **Succeeded**, and **Failed** are separate imported counts. Do not assume that Completed equals Succeeded, or that their totals cover every participant state.

The Result badge displays the supplied result, falling back to participant status when needed. Recognized pass and fail values receive corresponding colors; other labels can have a neutral badge. Read the text rather than assuming a neutral badge means Pending or a pass.

**Score** is the reported participant score. **Rank** appears with a number sign. **Time** shows minutes and seconds, such as 2:05. Missing values display **Not provided**. The list is ordered by rank, then score and name; there is no interactive result filter, column sorting, or CSV export.

Rows are read-only. They do not open a learner editor, replay a challenge, change a result, or show a full history of every training activity.

## Check the selection before following up

Selecting a challenge explicitly clears the participant search. Changing challenge filters or company scope can automatically choose another challenge while retaining the search text. If results unexpectedly disappear, confirm the challenge name and clear **Search participants**.

For **Participant results could not be loaded**, select **Try again** in the participant section. It retries those results. For **No participant results found**, check the search, selected challenge, company scope, and provider sync with your MSP. Neither message proves that nobody took the challenge.

To request help, start with the [Home AI Assistant](/user-guides/ticketing/open-a-ticket). Include the company, challenge, and participant result you need reviewed, then review and confirm the request. Your MSP should check the original provider evidence before arranging corrective training or account changes.

## Frequently asked questions

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Why don't the summary cards change when I search for one learner?">
    They remain the selected challenge's overall counts. The search filters only the participant rows and their result count.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does a neutral Result badge mean the learner has not started?">
    Not necessarily. It can be an unrecognized provider result or status. Read the badge text and check the source information if needed.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I change a failed result or resend the challenge here?">
    No. This is a read-only results view. Your MSP manages provider-side administration.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why are there no participants after changing the company?">
    Confirm the newly selected challenge and clear Search participants. Retained search text, missing synced results, mapping, or access can affect what appears.
