Choose the analysis scope, interpret the summary figures and export matching Planner data.
Planner Analytics turns the estimates, dates, statuses and probabilities on Planner items into summary figures and charts. This guide is for company users and MSP staff. Analytics does not check invoices, approved budgets, actual time or delivered services.
The page analyzes the companies you have selected.
3
Choose the Currency
If your companies use several currencies, Analytics shows one at a time. It never converts and combines them. When there are several, the first currency in the list is selected, so confirm it.
4
Choose the Cost type
Pick One-time, Monthly or Annual.
Analyze one cost cadence at a time. Monthly and Annual amounts are not converted into One-time amounts.
5
Choose the period
Pick Current Q, Next Q, This Year, Next Year or All Time.
6
Narrow by status and type (optional)
Use the status list (All Status, with Pending meaning Pending Approval) and the All Types list.
The page opens on One-time, Current Q, All Status and All Types. The period filters by due date. Items with no due date are left out of the quarter and year choices, so choose All Time to include them. The current quarter and year follow your MSP’s configured time zone. In All Time, work with neither a due date nor a start date appears in an Unscheduled bucket in EV by Quarter and Resource Allocation.Cost type changes which amounts are summed. It does not remove an item that has no cost in that type. An item with only a monthly cost still counts toward hours and status totals when you pick One-time, with a One-time cost of zero. Choosing a quarter does not multiply a monthly cost by three. Project Recurring Costs on the timeline is a separate feature.
The selected cost times probability for unfinished work. Completed items count their full cost and Cancelled items count zero. A missing probability counts as 50%.
Completion Rate
Completion weighted by Business Value, leaving out Cancelled items. High counts 3, Medium counts 2 and Low counts 1.
Total Hours
The sum of the filtered items’ estimated hours. It is not recorded technician time.
Avg Probability
The average probability of items that are not Completed or Cancelled, using 50% when unset. It shows 100% when no such items remain.
A 100% Avg Probability with only finished or cancelled work is a display fallback. It does not predict future work. For example, an unfinished item with a selected cost of 1,000 and 40% probability adds 400 to Expected Value. Marking it Completed adds 1,000. Cancelling it adds zero. This is a planning calculation. It is not revenue or a payment.See Understand Planner Analytics charts for how panels differ.
Use the Dashboard and Pipeline tabs in the page header. Dashboard has Project Health Score, Risk Matrix, the expected-value charts and High Risk Items. Pipeline has Status Pipeline, Resource Allocation and Client Commitment Tracker.
2
Click a chart element
Click a category, bar, pipeline stage, heatmap cell or company card to narrow the analysis to matching work. A message names the filter. Clicking a title in High Risk Items narrows to that item and does not open it.
3
Clear the selection
Click Clear in the toolbar. It removes the chart selection only. It does not reset Currency, Cost type, period, status, type or your company selection.
A new chart selection replaces the previous one. Changing your company selection also clears it. If a selection matches nothing, click Clear Filter on the empty screen. The summary figures and the export follow the narrowed data.
Choose the company, currency, cost type, period, status and type.
2
Clear any chart selection you do not want
A chart selection narrows the export too.
3
Click Export
A CSV named like planner-analytics-2026-10-01.csv downloads. Find it in your browser’s downloads.
4
Check the file
Check the rows, and the currency and cost type columns, before you use it.
The columns are Title, Status, Type, Business Value, Cost Estimate, Probability, Expected Value, Hours, Due Date, Company, ISO 4217 (the currency code) and Cost type. Cost Estimate is the sum for the selected cost type, not every cost row on the item. Expected Value uses the same rules as the summary. The export is not a picture of the charts, not an export of archived work and not an export of List View. An empty analysis exports only the column headings.
