A freeze window marks a period when changes are restricted, such as a busy trading period or a reporting close. The Calendar shows the window and flags changes that overlap it. This page is for company users and MSP staff who can see the Calendar and the Changes layer. Your MSP sets up freeze windows. Company users cannot create or edit them. MSP staff can follow Manage freeze windows. A freeze warning does not cancel an event, block every booking or grant an exception. Follow your organization’s process.

Before you start

  • You need access to the Changes layer. If Changes is missing from the layers menu, your role does not include it. Ask your MSP.
  • Freeze windows can apply to the whole MSP, one company or one site. Ask your MSP when the scope is unclear.

Find a freeze window

Open Calendar

Check the company selector and the date range.

Open the layers menu

Click the stacked-layers icon in the toolbar.

Turn on Changes and Calendar Blocks

Keep Changes ticked. In the Day, Week and Month views, also tick Calendar Blocks to draw the freeze on the grid.

Read the freeze block

Check the name and the start and end times. A repeating freeze can show on several dates.

Check overlapping work

A change or appointment that overlaps a freeze shows a snowflake icon. Its details say This event overlaps a freeze window.
Mine, Site or All beside a layer shows the access your MSP gave you. It is not a setting you can change.

Check the times

Compare the freeze and the planned work, including the Calendar time zone.

Ask your MSP

Send the company and site, the freeze name, the planned work and the date and time. Ask whether to reschedule or follow an exception process.
Turning a layer off only hides the freeze from your view. Your MSP must change the freeze or move the work.
