Read the planning item
- Find the item in Planner > List View or the timeline and open its title.
- Review the item status, due date, description, hours and cost estimate.
- Look in Relationships for a linked opportunity.
- If the opportunity has an available link, open it only when you also have access to that provider page. Otherwise ask your MSP for its current details.
Understand where the values come from
An MSP can import a synchronized Halo, ConnectWise or Autotask opportunity to create a Planner item. At import, the summary/details supply the title/description, the opportunity date supplies the due date, and its value supplies an initial one-time estimate. The MSP maps the source opportunity’s Open/Won/Lost category to a Planner status. A Planner item can therefore start as Completed if the MSP maps a Won opportunity that way. Read the work description and confirm delivery with your MSP; a sales outcome and actual work completion are separate facts. Later PSA synchronization may refresh configured fields. A changed date or estimate can reflect a changed source opportunity rather than a direct edit in Planner. Ask your MSP which fields are managed by the PSA when a value is unexpected. An ordinary manually linked opportunity does not always have the same refresh behavior as an imported item. The presence of a relationship alone does not tell you every field is synchronized.Access and document availability
The item’s client visibility and your company/Planner access determine whether it appears. Provider access is separate. A visible Planner item can have a linked opportunity whose external page is unavailable to you. The opportunity relationship is not itself a downloadable quote. For proposal documents, use Quotes and the provider-specific document guide, or request the document from your MSP.If something looks wrong
Give your MSP the Planner item title, company and the field you are questioning. Ask whether the source opportunity, an import status mapping or ongoing synchronization explains the value. Company users do not repair PSA credentials or change the integration’s mapping settings. Related: Read a Planner item, read linked records, understand estimates, MSP import guide.FAQs
