Audience: MSP staff and Company users explicitly granted Goals management permission. Your MSP assigns Company permissions. The Hide from company users control is for MSP staff.

Create a goal

1

Open the form

Open Goals and select Add Goal. Check the company scope first.
2

Choose the company when prompted

In a permitted aggregate view, select the company in the form. MSP staff with the appropriate scope can select Organization goal (no company) for an internal organization objective. In an individual company view, the selected company is used.
3

Describe the objective

Enter a clear Title and optional Description. The title is required and supports up to 255 characters. Describe the result you want to achieve and how you will measure it.
4

Set the classification and target

Choose the available Category, Status, and Priority. Set Due Date, Progress (%) from 0 to 100, and optional Quarter and Year. Year accepts 2000–2100. Review default status and priority rather than assuming particular choices are present.
5

Complete custom fields and visibility

Complete required custom fields. Wait for them to load before saving. For MSP staff, check Hide from company users if this should be an internal goal; leave it unchecked to allow otherwise-authorized Company readers to see it.
6

Save and verify

Select Create Goal. Wait for the success message and the panel to close, then find the new goal in the list. Opening the form or entering text does not save it.

Update a goal

  1. Select its title or choose Edit Goal from its row menu.
  2. Change the intended fields. Update status and progress separately when both need to change.
  3. Review any required custom fields and, for MSP staff, Company visibility.
  4. Select Update Goal and wait for success.
  5. Reopen the goal to verify the saved result if needed.
The existing goal’s form does not offer the new-goal company selector. Do not treat it as a way to move an existing goal between companies.

Handle a save problem

If Failed to save goal appears, the form retains your entered values. Check the title, numeric ranges, required custom fields, and selected options. If the save button remains disabled, allow custom fields to finish loading or ask your MSP to investigate a load or permission problem. The goal and its submitted custom fields are saved together. Do not assume the main fields succeeded after a validation error. Use Cancel to leave a draft you do not want to save.
