Backup > Devices lists backed-up devices, workloads and appliance assets from Cove, Acronis, NinjaOne, Datto Backup and Slide Backup. MSP staff and company users with Backup read access can use it.

Before you start

  • You have Backup read access.
  • A device-backup provider has reported data for your companies. The Devices tab is hidden until it has.
  • The company selector at the top shows the company you want.

Find a device

Open Devices

Go to Backup > Devices.

Check the company

Confirm the company selector. MSP staff should select the company before they look into one client’s device.

Filter the list

Use the Device filter to search by name. Use Status to narrow by result. MSP staff also get a Provider filter when more than one provider is connected.

Read the row

Check Type, Status, Last Backup and the storage columns.

Page through results

The list shows 25 rows per page. Use the pager for more.
The default Status filter shows Success, Completed, Ok, Warning, InProcess, Failed, Error, Critical and Paused. Not Configured rows are hidden at first. To see them, choose Not Configured in Status. Clearing the filter returns to the default set, not to every status. If every expected device is unconfigured, ask your MSP to check the provider and company mapping instead of concluding that you have no devices.

Open Devices from the dashboard

Selecting a tile, a status segment or a bar on the Backup Dashboard opens Devices with filters already set. A provider card sets Provider. A status tile or segment also sets Status, for example Warning and InProcess for Needs attention. The filters live in the page address, so you can bookmark or share a filtered view. Change or clear them in the table to widen the list.

Read the columns

Select the column toggle above the table to show or hide columns. Missing or zero storage is not proof of protection. Read the status and date together, not the badge color alone.

Multi-company selections

Some providers cannot be narrowed to a selection of several companies. MSPortal leaves their devices out and shows a note naming them. Select one company, or Global View, to see them. Company users see the note as “Some backup”.

Open a device’s details

Select a row to open its panel. Cove device rows do not open a panel. See Read backup details.

Frequently asked questions

Clearing the filters restores the default status set. Choose Not Configured to see those rows.
No. Some Acronis usage rows summarize several workloads, and Datto Backup and Slide Backup rows are protected systems on an appliance. Read Device and Type before you compare row counts with an inventory.
No. Rows open read-only details. Starting or changing a backup is a provider task for authorized MSP staff.
Company users see their MSP’s managed service, not the vendor behind it.
