This guide walks you through connecting Phin Security to MSPortal.ai using the guided setup wizard.
The Phin Security integration is currently available in beta.

Overview

Phin Security is a security awareness training and phishing simulation platform for MSPs. By integrating Phin with MSPortal.ai, you can:
  • View security awareness training progress for every client in one place
  • Track per-user phishing simulation results and training completion
  • Monitor active Phin campaigns for each mapped company
  • Include Phin report artifacts in Security Awareness reports

Prerequisites

  • An active Phin Security partner account with API access
  • Your Phin Partner ID, Client ID, and Client Secret
  • MSPortal.ai account with integration management permissions

Part 1: Get Your Phin API Credentials

Before connecting to MSPortal.ai, you need API credentials from Phin.
1

Log into Phin

Sign in to your Phin Security partner portal with an administrator account.
2

Locate Your Partner ID

Your Partner ID identifies your MSP organization in Phin. It is available in your partner account settings.
3

Generate API Credentials

From your partner settings, open the API access section and generate a set of API credentials. Phin issues a Client ID and a Client Secret.
Name the credentials something recognizable, such as MSPortal Integration, so you can identify them later.
4

Copy the Credentials

Copy the Client ID and Client Secret immediately.
Store the Client Secret securely! You may not be able to view it again after leaving the page. If you lose it, you will need to generate new credentials.

Part 2: MSPortal Setup Wizard

MSPortal.ai provides a guided 4-step wizard to connect and configure your Phin Security integration.

Starting the Wizard

1

Navigate to Integrations

In MSPortal.ai, go to Settings > Integrations.
2

Find Phin Security

Locate the Phin Security integration card in the list of available integrations.
3

Start Setup

Click Configure to launch the setup wizard.

Step 1: Connect

Enter your Phin credentials to establish the connection.
1

Enter Credentials

Fill in the three credential fields:
Your credentials are stored securely using Supabase Vault encryption. They are never exposed in logs or API responses.
2

Test Connection

Click Test Connection to verify your credentials. On success, you’ll see a confirmation showing your Phin partner name and the number of companies found, for example “Connected to Acme MSP (42 companies)”.If the connection fails:
  • Verify the Partner ID, Client ID, and Client Secret were copied without extra spaces
  • Ensure the credentials have not been revoked
  • Check that your Phin account has API access enabled
3

Connect

Once the connection test passes, click Connect Phin to save your credentials and create the integration. When editing an existing integration, the button is labeled Save Connection.

Step 2: Configure

Choose which data types sync from Phin. All four options are enabled by default.
1

Review Sync Options

Toggle each data type on or off:
2

Save Settings

Click Save Sync Settings to apply your choices, then click Next.

Step 3: Map Companies

Map Phin companies to your MSPortal companies. This determines which data syncs to which company.
1

Sync Companies

If no companies appear, click Sync Companies to fetch them from Phin. The sync runs in the background and usually completes within a minute.
2

Use Quick Match

Click Quick Match to automatically match Phin companies to MSPortal companies based on name similarity. Review the suggested matches and apply the ones that look correct.
3

Manual Mapping

For companies that weren’t automatically matched:
  1. Find the company in the list
  2. Click the Select company dropdown in the “Mapped To” column
  3. Search for and select the correct MSPortal company
To remove a mapping, use the unmap button next to the company badge.
4

Create New Companies

If a Phin company doesn’t have a corresponding MSPortal company, use Create new company to add one. New companies are automatically mapped to their Phin counterparts.
5

Import Selected

Pending mappings show a Pending badge. Click Import Selected to save them, or click Next, which saves pending mappings automatically.
You must map at least one company before proceeding. Only data from mapped companies is synced to MSPortal.
When you advance past this step, MSPortal automatically starts a sync for the newly mapped companies.

Step 4: Status

Review the sync status and finish setup.
1

Review Sync Stats

The Status step displays counts for each data type:
  • Companies
  • Training users
  • Active campaigns
  • Report artifacts
The “Last synced” timestamp shows when data was last updated. If data hasn’t appeared yet, the sync starts automatically after company mappings are saved and may take a few minutes.
2

Explore Your Data

Use the Security Training and Security Awareness buttons to jump directly to the synced data.
3

Complete Setup

Click Complete Setup to finish the wizard and return to the Integrations page.

What Gets Synced

Phin Security integration syncs the following data types to MSPortal:

Companies

Your Phin company inventory, used for mapping Phin companies to MSPortal companies.

Training Status

Per-user security awareness metrics for each mapped company:
  • User name and email address
  • Phishing simulations sent and clicked, with click percentage
  • Trainings assigned and completed
  • Up-to-date training status

Active Campaigns

Metadata for active Phin campaigns running in each mapped company.

Report Artifacts

Metadata for Phin report PDFs, including report type, scope, file name, and creation date. These feed Security Awareness reporting in MSPortal.

Synchronization Schedule

After initial setup, data syncs automatically:
A sync also runs automatically right after you save company mappings in the wizard.

Managing Your Integration

After setup, manage your integration from Settings > Integrations:

Updating Your Credentials

1

Open Integration Settings

Go to Settings > Integrations and click Configure on the Phin Security card.
2

Enter New Credentials

On the Connect step, update the Partner ID, Client ID, or Client Secret.
3

Test and Save

Click Test Connection to verify, then click Save Connection.

Deleting the Integration

Click Delete in the wizard footer. This removes the integration, stored credentials, mapped Phin data, and sync state for your tenant.

Troubleshooting

Security & Privacy

  • Credential Storage: Your Phin credentials are encrypted using Supabase Vault and never exposed in logs or responses
  • Data Isolation: All synced data is tenant-isolated and only visible to your organization
  • Read-Only Access: MSPortal only reads Phin data; it never modifies your Phin configuration
