Action1 is in Beta. It is available to every tenant and shows a Beta badge in Settings › Integrations › Directory. If something does not match your Action1 account, contact support@msportal.ai.
What the integration covers
- Covered: Action1 organizations and their endpoints, missing updates and pending reboots, open vulnerabilities, and installed software.
- Not covered: update deployment, automation and remote actions. Endpoints link to the devices other sources already report and add a device only when nothing matches, so an RMM that reports the same machine stays its main source. The device details have no Action1-specific section.
Before you connect
- In Action1, open Configuration › API Credentials and choose Create API Credentials.
- Use a role with the View Endpoints permission on every organization you want in MSPortal.
- Copy the Client ID and Client Secret before you close the dialog. Action1 shows the Client Secret only once.
- Note your data center from the address you use to sign in to Action1. Credentials work only on the data center that issued them.
Connect
- Open Settings › Integrations, choose Directory, find Action1, and choose Connect.
-
Choose the Data center that matches your Action1 console address:
- Enter the Client ID and Client Secret.
- Choose Test connection. A successful test shows how many organizations the credentials can read.
- Choose Save and continue. MSPortal saves the credentials in the vault and starts the first sync.
Match organizations to companies
Open Import or match companies. Link each Action1 organization to its MSPortal company: accept the suggestion, choose another company, or use Import company to create one. Import companies creates companies for several unmatched organizations at once. Ignore hides an organization that is not a client’s, and you can restore it later. Endpoints, patch status, vulnerabilities and software appear only for matched organizations.Import devices
Open Import devices. The Endpoints and devices page shows the last sync:
Map each endpoint type, such as Windows Server, Windows Workstation, Mac or Linux, to a device type so new devices get the right type. Each sync links an endpoint to the device another source already reports, by serial number, MAC address or hostname within its company. An endpoint with no match becomes a new device. Choose Sync All Data to sync now.
Where the data appears
- Devices: Action1 endpoints link to existing devices or appear as new ones.
- Devices › Software: installed software from Action1 joins the software inventory, with end-of-life and outdated status. See Track installed software.
- Security › Vulnerabilities: Action1 findings appear with the source Action1, one row per endpoint and CVE. See Find and read vulnerabilities.
- Reports: the Patch Status block counts endpoints missing updates as Pending install and endpoints waiting for a restart as Reboot required.
- Assistant and MCP: ask about patch health, or use
get_device_patch_healthwith the Action1 provider. Uselist_vulnerabilitiesfor Action1 findings.
Sync and troubleshooting
Action1 syncs organizations, endpoints, patch status and vulnerabilities daily, and installed software in a separate daily run. To sync now, choose Run sync on the connection page and pick All data, Full sync or Software.- Action1 rejected the Client ID or Client Secret: check both values and that you chose the data center that issued them.
- The credentials can read no organizations: give the credential’s role the View Endpoints permission on your client organizations.
- An endpoint shows as a second device: its serial number, MAC address and hostname did not match the existing device in the same company. Check that both are in the same company.
- No software for a device: the software run follows the device links the full sync makes. Run Software after the endpoint is linked.
